Monday Morning Inspiration: Teen Cooks Up A Great Idea
We love this story about 13 year-old Mallory Kievman, who cooked up her own remedy for the hiccups right in her own kitchen.
“I knew from experience by that point that no one wants to drink apple cider vinegar straight from the bottle,” she told Inc.com, referring to an ingredient that seemed to work. “Combining apple cider vinegar and sugar into a lollipop would make it more tolerable.”
Voila! Her product, Hiccupops, was born.
Now, after earning an award for the “most innovative invention showing best potential for patent and marketability” from the 2011 Connecticut Invention Convention, her patent is pending, and a team of MBA students helping to launch her invention this summer. Eventually, Mallory hopes to make Hiccupops a drug store staple.
And she’s not even a freshman in high school yet!
What’s her advice for other young entrepreneurs? “Carve out a lot of time. And keep pushing for it,” she told Tech Cocktail. “If you know you want to do it, you know there’s a specific goal in mind, don’t take no for an answer.”
